In this class we will be creating both fun and functional pieces using the basics of handbuilding- coil, pinch, and slab. We will also explore different surface decorations such as sgraffito, slip trailing, and wax resist. This class is not project based, so bring your ideas! The Itsy Bitsy Spider became a work of art! Campers will learn about a wide range of drawing and painting mediums while exploring the fascinating world of creepy crawlies. Registration closes Friday, July 17th at noon (12PM). Example of student work below:

Students will be encouraged to go the extra mile with preliminary drawings and color studies while working on their own paintings. Work at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Each session features 3 instructor demonstrations of advanced painting techniques. This class will delve deeper into color theory, mixing, and application, as well as, composition and design strategies. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your current painting in progress (if you have one) and any materials you already have. Use this wonderful, spontaneous medium in a supportive atmosphere with lots of useful tips and techniques that give great results. Designed for youngsters in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. These emerging artists, will have fun exploring art through a study of master artists. Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, chalk pastels, and collage. This age appropriate curriculum is based on a playful approach to art; teaching fine art techniques, art history, and building confidence. Instructed by Ms. Izzy! Includes all supplies. This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $30 cash per class, please call ahead. Drop in fee to be paid directly to instructor upon arrival.

Are you wanting to work on drawing skills in graphite or colored pencil? Or would you rather work in scratchboard, pastel or watercolor? Learn something new or brush up on your skills. Portrait, still life or nature whatever interests you. This class is for all levels of experience where you work on a project at your own speed and have fun! A project can be given to you or choose your own to work on in the medium you prefer. Reference material will be supplied if you don’t have your own. This class will meet for 6 weeks and is priced accordingly.

First person storytelling shows are all the rage on stages and podcasts across the country.  In this class, you will learn how to take true events from your own life and weave them into engaging performances. We will work on public speaking skills, presentation, story structure, different narrative approaches, and creating your own unique style.  Each week, students will be given a new assignment for how to structure a story.  Students choose their own subject matter for their personal stories.  This class culminates in a graduation performance, where each student will share a 3-7 minute personal story. Learn how to throw on the wheel to make fun and functional ceramic pieces! Teens will learn the techniques needed to create ceramic dishware as well as hand built clay sculptures. The pieces will be fired in a kiln and then students will learn different glazing and painting techniques to create truly unique ceramics. Art projects differ each week. Learn techniques for creating rich and layered pieces in this versatile medium from this sought after instructor. Once upon a time there was a fun art camp that gave campers a chance to explore exciting new mediums in a creative environment.
