This short session is an easy way to get a taste of how the art and playfulness of improv can impact your life in a positive way. Students will get a 4-class sampling of the gifts that can come from improvising. Through enjoyable games and exercises, students who benefit from regular improv practice gain more confidence, creativity, and cognitive flexibility while exercising the basic improv skills of listening, reacting, collaborating with others, and trusting oneself. Min 4 students/Max 18 No experience necessary - Class is open to adults 18+

Unleash your child's creativity at The Art Center! Our imaginative drawing class teaches essential concepts like sketching, color theory, and the exploration of shape, form, value, and texture. Students will engage in diverse projects using acrylics, oil pastels, watercolors, and chalk pastels, all in a supportive environment that fosters artistic growth and self-expression. Register today and inspire a lifelong passion for the arts! This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $30 cash per class, please call ahead. - Fall) Interm-Adv Oil & Acrylic Tues PM
Students will be encouraged to go the extra mile with preliminary drawings and color studies while working on their own paintings. Work at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Each session features 3 instructor demonstrations of advanced painting techniques. This class will delve deeper into color theory, mixing, and application, as well as, composition and design strategies. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your current painting in progress (if you have one) and any materials you already have. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials. Please note: This is not an appropriate class for beginners. Painting experience is required as students are expected to work independently in a larger class setting. Beginning students will learn and explore throwing and trimming on the wheel. More advanced students will continue to develop their wheel throwing skills and concentrate on individual projects and expression. *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. Tool kits must be purchased by students and are available at most Dick Blick and Michaels stores. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. In this playful and creative class students will use their imagination to create functional and sculptural works of art. We will explore and use the basic forms of handbuilding- pinchpot, coil, and slab. All pieces will be glazed and food safe. Includes all supplies.

Get creative by combining mediums in a single art piece! This camp will explore creative collage, junk journaling, 3D sculpture, and plenty of fun mixed media techniques to make masterpieces! Registration closes Friday, July 17th at noon (12PM).

Students will learn to create a painting from concept to completion in oil or acrylic media. We will focus on proper planning prior to starting a painting, as well as, basic layering and blending techniques, color mixing, handling the brush and more. Students will work at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive setting. Each session will feature 3 instructor demonstrations of beginning-intermediate painting techniques. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your sketch pad and your ideas if you've never painted before. New students who have already begun your painting journey, bring anything you're currently working on as well as materials that you already have. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials. Class size limited to 10 to provide an intimate experience with your instructor. Want to try acrylic painting but aren't sure you'd like to commit to buying all the materials and taking an 8 week class? Look no further! Join artist Leslie Murphy for a 4 week class and learn the basics of acrylic painting! Working with a guided, step by step process, we will create two painting studies, touching on basics of the medium and materials needed, color mixing, handling the brush, and more. This is an excellent way to dip your toes in the waters of painting and is a great stepping stone to an 8 week class. $10 supply fee paid directly to instructor during first class. Art bites intro classes can be taken in either order (1 first or 2 first or vice versa). Each intro class has the same level of painting, just different projects. Intro to acrylic painting 1 should only be taken once. Meets Tuesdays 9:30a-11a in August.

Check out this 4 week intro to oil painting course.
